It’s hard to believe we are getting ready to celebrate FIFTEEN years of business! It feels like just yesterday that I was planning to celebrate year one…but here we are. As with most things in life, the past fifteen years has been a rollercoaster, but man has it been fun. You’ve seen us through massive shutdowns, a recession, rebrands, an earthquake (!!), a name change and more. However, through all our evolutions and changes, there has been one constant…YOU! You are the reason we show up every day and you are the reason we love what we do. Tomorrow, we will officially be celebrating the big 1-5 with a slew of store specials, but first, let’s look at some highlights from the past 15 years… (lol to the quality of the earlier pictures. iPhones have come a long way) |
August 1, 2011: I officially became the owner of “Green Nest” (IYKYK). My Aunt, Sharon Clark, opened the store in February 2009 and I managed it until I became the owner that August. The store’s name changed to Green Roost the next month. |
August 23, 2011: Culpeper experienced it’s first and only earthquake and our front windows took a direct hit! It was scary, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed. |
April 16, 2016: When Chris and I got married, we made sure to include the Roost in our wedding pictures. It played a BIG part in our “meet cute”, so it had to be a part of our big day. If you want to read all about that adventure, check out THIS blog post. |
May 2016: We officially became an Alex and Ani shop in shop. Even though we no longer carry the brand, it was a wild ride while it lasted and played a massive part in Green Roost becoming the store it is today. |
January 2018: One of our many renovations (thanks, Jeff & Marji!)! Over the years, we’ve removed dressing rooms…then added dressing rooms (hah!), moved counters and more! I always say that I don’t do boredom well, and renovations are usually the result of that. |
Today: This business holds a significant place in my life, serving as the backdrop for numerous major life events. I take immense pride and feel honored to still be a part of it. The Roost, our wonderful staff, and you are all integral components of my journey as a business owner, and I am forever grateful for the meaningful impact you've had on my life. |
