My New Favorite Jumpsuit (& How I Choose Pieces for Green Roost)

Yesterday, I wore something special—a brand-new jumpsuit from Universal Standard, a brand I'm beyond excited to introduce to Green Roost. You might wonder how I decide what pieces make it into our store—well, here's a behind-the-scenes look at my process!

Truthfully, Universal Standard found me first. They reached out and invited me to meet them at the apparel show, and as always, I did some research beforehand. I quickly discovered that their values aligned beautifully with ours: ethical manufacturing and inclusive fashion, two topics I’m deeply passionate about. When Renee and I arrived at the show, we knew immediately: these were high-quality, classic pieces that deserved a place in our store (and our closets!).

But here's the thing—I never introduce something new without giving it my personal test first. With a new brand, especially one with unique sizing like Universal Standard, I always order a single piece to test myself. I wear it, live in it, and see how it holds up in real life. It’s incredibly important to me that our clothes feel amazing, fit real bodies (mine included!), and genuinely support your day-to-day life.

This jumpsuit? It passed every test effortlessly—I absolutely LOVE it! It's so good, in fact, that we’re bringing it in three gorgeous colors, arriving in April and May.

One of the most meaningful parts of my job is helping people find clothes that make them feel happier, more confident, and comfortable in their skin. At least once a week, I help someone try on something they thought would never work—and then watch their face light up when it does. That moment, that feeling, is exactly why I put so much care into choosing each piece for Green Roost.
