Our official fall fashion forecast!

First and foremost, let me tell you…it takes everything in me not to start these blogs with “Dearest Gentle Reader…” Is anyone else counting down until the next Bridgerton release? I’m so invested in this series. Tell me you’re with me.

Now, let’s get back to what you’re really here for—a round-up from our buying trip to Atlanta. In case you missed it, three times a year, we travel down to the ATL for the apparel market. This is where we pick all the upcoming styles for the next six months (!) at the shop. Hard to believe when we’re sweating in June, we’re thinking about roll-neck sweaters and jackets, right?

You know I always like to report back and let you know what trends we’re seeing. Fashion has such an interesting trickle-down effect when it comes to trends. You see it on the runways, then with design houses, and then it makes its way into the boutiques. I love following these trends and seeing which ones will fit in at the Roost. So, without further ado, here’s our official trend report…

First, this Fall we’re seeing red (and I don’t mean we’re angry). In almost every showroom and collection, we saw pops of red. Fall always brings lots of jewel tones, but this season, red seems to be the predominant pop.

We are also still seeing lots of puffy vests, but this season…they’re short!I posted this picture on Insta, and even though you all were torn on whether or not you love it, I took a chance. 

Lastly, I need your help with this one. We saw SO many collars. I’m up in the air on this trend. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a collar. But when I think collar, I think of a stiff, crisp shirt collar. The collars we’re seeing are mainly on sweaters and shirts (so think a flatter, more relaxed look). What are your thoughts?

We crammed a ton of work into a two-day trip, but it was worth it. I love the retail industry, because as widespread as it is, it’s still a small world. We even ran into our friends Em and Jessi (Em, as you may remember, is my friend and business coach) and got to catch up with them over lunch.
