This holiday season…your choices matter

There’s this funny thing that happens in a small town right about now…

The twinkle lights turn on, the sidewalks get busier, and suddenly everyone remembers how magical Main Street can feel.

But here’s the truth I have to say out loud… that magic doesn’t simply exist. Small businesses make it… with heart, grit, long hours, and a whole lot of caffeine.

When you choose to shop small (whether it’s here at Green Roost or at your favorite local restaurant, bookstore, bakery, toy shop, nail salon, or coffee spot) you are literally shaping what this town looks like a year from now.

I saw a statistic recently that stopped me in my tracks…

If every person in the US shifted just one $50 online purchase to a local business each month, it would send over $42 billion back into our communities. Forty-two. Billion. Dollars.

That’s more jobs right here. More storefronts filled instead of empty.  More kids seeing their parents chase dreams. More holiday magic that doesn’t rely on giant corporations to fund it.

You don’t even have to shop with me to make that impact, though trust me, I’ll always be doing a happy dance if you do.

Every coffee you grab downtown. Every charcuterie board you order for a party. Every gift you choose from a local shelf instead of a warehouse shelf…

It matters. More than we can ever say.

Green Roost has been here for 17 holiday seasons because you have kept showing up. And I’ll never, ever take that for granted.

As you’re making your lists (and checking them twice, and then panic-ordering at 2am)… I hope you’ll remember that your dollars can do more than buy a gift, they can build a community.

And friend… what a beautiful community we’ve built together.

Shopping small is easy when…
• You choose Main Street over mega-sites
• You grab lunch at the café owned by your neighbor
• You treat gifts like an investment in your town
• You buy from people who actually know your name
• You remember that “free shipping” isn’t really free — someone is paying for it

If you need help finding the perfect gift, we’ve got you.
